The context budget is how much conversation history an agent keeps before older turns are trimmed. Settings → Context budget is where you see the ceiling Nezasa has granted your company, set your own default below it, and give individual agents their own budget.
The two numbers
Allocated budget — the ceiling Nezasa has granted your company, in tokens. Unless Nezasa has granted your company more, it is the platform's standard budget. You can see it here, but only Nezasa can raise it; contact your Nezasa representative if you need more headroom.
Company default — an optional token value you set for yourself, applied to every agent that doesn't have its own budget below. Leave it empty and your agents use the standard budget instead, which is the number shown greyed out in the empty field. When Nezasa has granted your company more than that, setting your own default is how you claim the headroom. You cannot raise it above your allocated budget. If Nezasa later lowers your allocation below a company default you had already set, your value is kept — but the allocated budget is what applies, and the page shows a note saying so.
A higher budget lets an agent remember more of a long conversation or a large report run before older turns are trimmed. It comes at a cost: a bigger budget means more conversation history is re-sent to the model — and more credits spent — on every turn. Set it for what an agent actually needs, not as high as it will go.
Per-agent budgets
Any agent that belongs to your company can have its own budget instead of the company default — useful when one agent's conversations or report runs genuinely need more headroom than the rest. Every company agent is listed in the table on this page. Type a number to give one its own budget, change it whenever you like, and clear the field to put the agent back on the company default.
A built-in agent (one Nezasa ships, like Tai Guard) doesn't appear in this table — its budget is set by Nezasa, is the same for every company that uses it, and cannot be changed per company. Your allocated budget does not restrict it either: Tai Guard runs on the 300,000-token budget Nezasa gave it whatever your company's allocation is, and it costs accordingly.
When you'd use this
Raise a specific agent's budget when it regularly runs long conversations or large reports and starts losing earlier context before it should. Lower the company default if you'd rather keep every agent's per-turn cost down and are comfortable with more history being trimmed sooner. Leave everything alone if you haven't noticed agents losing context — the platform default already covers ordinary use.
Who can change what
Only an admin of your own company can change the company default and per-agent budgets — including from an agent's own page, where other users see the budget but cannot set, change or clear it. Nezasa staff administering your company can see them — they need to, to explain a run's behavior — but cannot change them on your behalf, and the page says so while they are administering.
Tips and limits
A higher budget is a trade-off, not a free upgrade — every extra token of history is resent, and billed, on every turn of that agent's conversation.
Every budget is a whole number of tokens between 10,000 and 500,000. The lower bound is there to catch a slip — 300 typed for 300,000 would not fail anywhere; the agent would just forget its earlier turns almost immediately.
You cannot raise the company default above your allocated budget — the page refuses the save and tells you the ceiling. The allocated budget always wins at run time, whatever is stored.
Clearing a field never removes the cap. Clearing the company default puts every agent back on the standard budget; clearing an agent's own budget puts that agent back on the company default.
Built-in agents (Tai Guard and others Nezasa ships) don't appear in the per-agent table — their budget is set by Nezasa, is not editable per company, and is not limited by your allocated budget.
